How to Write a Winning Resume
To compete in today's demanding and ever-changing work environment, your resume needs to be fine-tuned regularly so you can make a fast, targeted response to any job opportunity that arises. Here are some tips on how to write a winning resume:
Start with a succinct, clearly stated career objective tailored to the particular job for which you are applying.
Provide your educational history and details of training related to the position you are seeking.
Use key words and phrases pertaining to the physical therapy or occupational therapy industry, including new practice methods or technology.
Employment history should be logical and consistent. Make sure any gaps of more than one year between your jobs are clearly explained.
Use action words, such as supervised, conducted, implemented, etc.
List all professional societies, associations, or clubs of which you are a member
Keep it short and concise, no more than two pages
Double and triple check for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors. When you're absolutely positive there are none, ask a colleague (or two) to proofread your resume once more.
