IMPORTANT HIPAA NOTICE
In 2004, HIPAA adopted a new set of security standards. As part of the new regulation, therapists that bill services to Medicaid or Medicare must apply for a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number. The NPI is a 10-digit intelligent free number that will replace a therapist's current UPIN number.
All therapists that currently have UPIN numbers will need to apply for an NPI number prior to May 27, 2007.
